A short, sweet devotional from a farmer’s wife and mum
2 Corinthians 5:7
That your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God
There are always those days that can throw you off. You have your routine and your day all planned out… and then the day begins and somehow something went wrong… an unexpected phone call, a sick animal (or child), or a distraction of some sort. Sometimes we can just readjust our plans a little to suit our current situation instead of stressing over the little things or things we can’t control.
Saying this however, we do need guidelines to keep us on track and to prevent us from procrastinating. Every family is different and we all need to do what works for us.
I homeschool my three little ones and am privileged enough to be able to work from home within my own time schedule. I have to have a pretty vigorous routine and I stick to it as best as I can, otherwise I can find myself extremely overwhelmed when things fall off track.
I need FAITH daily as I homeschool my three children. It is when I read the word of God that I realize my first priority is teaching my children to accept the Lord Jesus as their savior and living a life doing God’s will. If I fail that, I know I have failed as a parent. Eternity is forever and I see a world that is turning its back on God and taking our Lord Jesus Christ out of schools.
Living at work as we do as farmers, it is essential for us to take some time off and get off the farm (a place with no signal is a bonus). We try and balance our off-time by going camping with our kids. Camping brings us closer together – no phones, no T.V, no distractions. Sitting around the fire chatting about all sorts of things, loads of laughter and funny stories… memories that we will have forever.
If I had to give advice to parents who are busy and feeling overwhelmed with their daily schedule, please, try carve out time with your children, we only have them for a little while. Camping is an affordable option for most but if that’s not an option, even a day out in a local park or to the beach for a picnic would be valuable, quality time spent together.
Let’s ensure our hearts are good to reap the rewards of God’s Word in our daily lives.
With warmth, love and gratitude,
Kayleigh
