Exchanges Policy: Return Window

According to our Exchanges Policy You may return eligible items within 14 days of delivery.

Eligible Returns

  • Unused, unwashed, unworn, and in pristine condition
  • In their original packaging
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase
  • Completely free of strong odors (such as perfume, smoke, or body odor), pet hair, makeup marks, or any other signs of use. We reserve the right to reject a return and send the item back to the buyer at their expense if it does not meet these hygiene and condition standards.

Non-Returnable Items

We do not accept returns or exchanges on the following:

  • Custom-made or personalised items
  • Sale items or clearance items
  • Perishables (food, flowers, etc.)
  • Digital goods (PDFs, e-books)
  • Hygiene items (toothbrushes, cosmetics, etc.)
  • Bulk orders and Business-to-Business (B2B) purchases. (Goods bought for commercial use or to supply a third-party client do not qualify for the 7-day cooling-off period under Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002).

Refunds

  • Refunds are processed to the original payment method
  • Processing time: 7–10 working days from approval
  • Change of mind: R300 courier fee will be deducted unless you opt for store credit.
  • Cost of Returns: Under Section 44(2) of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) 25 of 2002, if a consumer cancels a transaction within the 7-day cooling-off period, the direct cost of returning the goods is strictly the responsibility of the consumer. Local is Lekker ZA will not be liable for return courier fees unless the item is proven to be defective.

Exchanges

Exchanges are only permitted if:

  • The item is defective or damaged, and/or
  • The request is made within 14 days of delivery

To request an exchange, email orders@localislekkerza.co.za with clear photos and order details.

Gift Returns

  • If the item was marked as a gift, we’ll issue store credit
  • If not marked as a gift, the refund will go to the original purchaser

Warranty (CPA Compliance)

You are covered by the Consumer Protection Act’s 6-month warranty for manufacturing defects.

Definition of a Defect: For the purposes of returns and warranties, a “defect” is defined strictly in accordance with Section 53 of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 68 of 2008 as a material imperfection that renders the goods less acceptable or reasonably practicable. Natural variations inherent to handmade, artisanal South African products do not constitute a defect under the CPA.

This does not apply if:

  • The product was misused or not cared for correctly
  • The defect was disclosed at the time of sale and accepted by the buyer
  • The item is a non-returnable product (as listed above)
