Exchanges and Returns
Please read the following custom-made, handmade and personalized product(s) return and exchange policy carefully.
Weaving on a traditional loom and the process of crafting any of the other handmade products on Local Is Lekker ZA is delicate work that makes each item unique. We wish to advise that this may result in slight sizing and colour discrepancies from the photographed images. It is of utmost importance that you follow the cleaning and caring instructions stipulated for our products, details of which can be found on our website.
Local is lekker ZA takes great pride in their products and wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.
Handmade Description: All our locally handmade: products are made with care and attention to detail.
While we strive to provide high-quality products that meet your expectations, we understand that you may change your mind. As such, we accept returns on most of our handmade products within 14 days of delivery. The item must be in its original condition and packaging.
Custom-Made Description: Our custom-made products are made-to-order and specifically crafted to your requested sizes and personal preferences.
Due to the custom nature of these products, Local is lekker ZA does not accept returns on any custom-made items. For example, if you request a custom-made dress in a specific size and colour, our team will create the dress according to your specifications and will not accept returns or exchanges once the production process has begun. However, we make every effort to ensure that our products meet our customers’ expectations and specifications, and we will work with you to resolve any issues that may arise. To be certain you feel adequately informed about our products please consult with us at and we will respond to your query as soon as possible.
Personalized Products: Our personalized products are specially made for you.
These products cannot be returned or exchanged unless they are damaged or defective. For example, if you order a personalized mug with a specific message or name, please ensure that all spelling and personalization information is correct when placing your order.
Returns: If your handmade or personalized item arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide photos of the damage. We will work with you to repair or replace the item at no additional cost.
Exchanges: If you receive a handmade or personalized product that does not meet your specifications, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery to discuss an exchange. We will work with you to make the necessary adjustments to your item to ensure it meets your expectations. If an exchange is not possible, we will work with you to find a solution that is satisfactory for both parties.
Delivery: Due to the nature of custom-made, handmade, and personalized products, delivery times may vary. We will provide you with an estimated delivery date at the time of purchase, and we will keep you updated on the progress of your order. Please note that if you request changes to your custom-made item after the production process has begun, this may delay the delivery time.
By purchasing a custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) from our store, you agree to these terms and conditions.
Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food, flowers, newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept the return of products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases.
Consumers on initial inspection they find that:
- the custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) does not meet the ‘type’ or ‘quality’ they could reasonably expect from the agreement; or
- if the custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) were made in terms of a special or ‘custom’ order, and they do not reasonably conform to the specifications of the order, then:
- the consumer can refuse delivery,
- receive a full refund, and
- the consumer can cancel without penalty.
- Unused, in the original packaging and in the identical condition you received it
- To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
The custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) sold to a consumer are sold with an implied warranty of quality, that cannot be contracted out of or revoked. The warranty gives the consumer the right to receive goods that:
- are reasonably suitable for the purpose that they are intended to be used for,
- are of good quality, free of defects, and in good working order, and
- will be durable and usable for a reasonable period of time.
If the custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) are found not to comply with these requirements then, for up to 6 months after receiving them, the consumer can:
- return the goods, or
- get the goods replaced, or
- get the goods repaired.
Returns: Cannot return the custom-made, handmade, or personalized product(s) if it was defective or not suitable for the purpose if:
- the consumer was made aware of the specific defects, and
- the consumer agreed to receive the goods in that condition.
Additional non-returnable items:
- Gift cards
- Downloadable software products
- Some health and personal care items
- Only regular priced items may be store credited. Sale items are not.
There are certain situations where only partial store credits are granted:
- Books with obvious signs of use
- CD, DVD, VHS tapes, software, video games, cassette tapes, or vinyl records that have been opened.
- Any item not in its original condition- is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. Please do not send your purchase back to the artisan.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your store credit. If your return request is approved, then your store credit will be processed, and a store credit voucher will automatically be sent to you within 24 hours of approval.
Late or missing Store Credit
If you haven’t received store credit within 24 hours, first check your email junk mail and spam folders before submitting a query.

If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a store gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a store credit voucher to the gift giver and they will find out about your return.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive store credit, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your store credit.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
If you are returning more expensive items, you may consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item or the condition of the item may be received.
