What does "back-order" mean?
When an item is listed as “back-order”, it means that the product is temporarily out of stock but available to order.
Once you place your order, we’ll begin production or restocking, and your slippers will be dispatched as soon as they are ready.
Back-order lead times:
Handmade slippers may take 2–3 weeks to complete

Can I change my delivery address after placing an order?
If your order has not yet been dispatched, email us at orders@localislekkerza.co.za with your order number as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to update your shipping address before the courier collects it.

The slippers are unworn and in their original condition
The return includes proof of purchase
The slippers are returned in their original packaging

Slippers damaged due to misuse or outdoor wear

All our slippers are handmade and locally crafted, with unique variations in shape and finish. These are not considered defects, but part of their charm.

What makes our Local is Lekker ZA slippers so special?
Each pair of our slippers is handcrafted in South Africa using 100% genuine sheepskin. They are naturally insulating—keeping your feet warm in winter and cool in summer—while offering unmatched softness, breathability, and durability.
Can you wear your slippers all year round?
Yes. Sheepskin’s natural climate-regulating properties make our slippers suitable for year-round wear.
Do you offer multiple sizes?
Yes. We stock a full range of sizes for both men and women. For guidance on choosing the correct size, please refer to our Size Guide, which includes detailed measurements and fit advice.
What materials do you use?
We use only 100% South African sheepskin, featuring a plush wool interior and soft suede or leather outer. Every material is selected for quality, comfort, and ethical sourcing.
Can I wear my slippers outdoors?
No. These slippers are made for indoor use only.
The suede/leather soles are soft and can wear down quickly if exposed to:
Rough outdoor surfaces
Water or damp conditions
Direct exposure to mud or dirt
Outdoor wear voids our return and replacement policy.
How do I clean my sheepskin slippers?
If the slippers have a wool or sheepskin inner with a suede outer:
Spot-clean with a lightly damp cloth
For deeper cleaning, use a gentle detergent with cold water
Do not machine wash or tumble dry
Let them dry naturally (avoid direct sunlight or heaters)
If the slippers have a leather outer:
Use a damp cloth for surface cleaning
Apply a leather protector to help avoid staining
For inner cleaning, follow the same spot-clean method as above
Leather may stiffen after drying, but will soften with wear

Do you offer repairs?
While collar damage is not a common issue, we understand that accidents can happen — especially when curious pups decide your slippers look like chew toys. We offer collar repairs on sheepskin slippers where possible.
However, these are handled on a case-by-case basis and depend on:
Examination of the damage
A few questions to help us determine how the damage occurred
Availability of matching materials
Please note: Repairs are not guaranteed and are only offered where it is safe and practical to do so. There will be a small fee for materials and labour.
I’m unhappy with my slippers. Can I leave a review or complain?
Of course! We value honest feedback. If you’re unhappy, we encourage you to speak to our team first – we’ll always try to help.
However, false claims made online that damage our business reputation may be considered defamation and could result in legal action. Please refer to our store policy for details.
