My Small Business -Wildkidsbooksa

Dear Readers,

As I sit down to write this inaugural blog post, I am filled with excitement as I am thrilled to share my experiences, insights, and adventures with you as I navigate the world of storytelling, entrepreneurship, and creativity as a South African author and self-publisher.

I am a passionate writer and dreamer who believes in the power of imagination to shape young minds and hearts. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant cultures, languages, and landscapes of South Africa, I developed a deep appreciation for storytelling as a means of connecting people and celebrating diversity.

Inspired by a desire to create meaningful content for young readers, I embarked on a journey to become a children’s book author. I want to share stories about our beautiful wildlife, nature, and conservation. I soon realized that writing the stories was only one part of the equation. If I wanted to share my work with the world and make a tangible impact, I needed to take on the role of a self-publisher as well. This has allowed me the creative freedom to create and publish as I wish. I am limitless in how creative I can be and I can work on my time.

And so, armed with determination, creativity, and a DIY spirit, I set out to establish my own one-woman publishing business (ok, husband definitely does help me and my children inspire every story). From crafting engaging narratives to designing captivating illustrations, from managing finances to building an online presence, I wear many hats in this multifaceted endeavor. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities, but I am grateful for the chance to pursue my passion and make a difference in the lives of young readers.

But perhaps what excites me the most about this journey is the opportunity to connect with you, my readers and fellow dreamers. Whether you are a parent looking for bedtime stories to share with your little ones, a teacher seeking educational resources for your classroom, or simply a lover of children’s literature and nature, I hope that my books will find a special place in your hearts and homes.

In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses into my creative process, practical tips for aspiring authors and self-publishers, and reflections on the joys and challenges of running a one-woman business. Together, let us embark on this adventure of storytelling, learning, and discovery.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here’s to the magic of imagination and the power of words to inspire, educate, and uplift.

With warmest regards,

Kayleigh
